Aparimita is the name given to Amitabha in his charactor of bestower of longevity. Aparimita may be turned either a "Crowned Buddha" or a Bodhisattva and is therefore richly clad and wears the thirteen ornaments . His hair is painted blue and falls on either side of his elbows ormay be curiously coiled. He is seated like a Buddha and his hands lie on his lap in "Dhyana Mudra" holding the ambrosia vase, his special emblem. the vase is richly decorated and from the cover fall four strings of beads which represent scared pills.

For obtaining long life the lamaist ceremony is held in a curious mixture of Buddhism and demons-worship. In the preliminary worship the pills made from buttered dough and the ambrosia brewed from sprit or beer and offered in a skull bowl to the great image of Aparimita the lama then places a vajra on the ambrosia vase which the image of Amitayus holds in its lap. and applies a cord. which is attached to the vajra, to his own heart. the wine in the ambrosia vase is the consecrated and the people partake of it as well as of the sacred pills with the firm convicition that their lives will be prolonged through their faith in Aparimita.

Buddha Aparimita is invoked or worshipped for lengthening the life span or fast relief from dreadful diseases or from mortal danger. In Nepalese Mahayana tradition the dharani of Buddha Aparimita is often recited by the devotees in the presence of dying patients. the recitation of this dharani is said to be efficacious when carried out in utter sincerity. It is said that the famous Madhayamika Buddhist philosopher Arya Nagarjuna had escaped his early death after recitation of this dharani for one complete day and night.
Lost-Wax System
This Aparimita is made by the process of the Lost-Wax system. The lost-wax process, also known as investment casting, is a time-honored technique used to create metal sculptures. It involves several steps that have been practiced for thousands of years. Skilled artisans begin by sculpting a detailed wax model, capturing every intricate detail of the desired sculpture. The wax model is then coated with a ceramic shell, formed by multiple layers of ceramic material. Once the shell has cured, the wax is melted and drained out, leaving behind a cavity. Molten metal is poured into the cavity, creating a precise replica of the original wax model. After the metal has cooled and solidified, the ceramic shell is carefully removed, revealing the final metal sculpture. Read More
